Weekend of February 26, 2010 - Emergency Room Visit!!

Tuesday, March 2, 2010 - Last night was much better that the night previous since he was all medicated and his thumb was feeling more relieved. The infectious disease doctor came in for a consult and he said the prelimary test results came back and Miles did not have MRSA staf infection just the "regular" staf infection which can be treated with the antibiotics he is already on. Thank goodness!!! The ER doctor thought we were going to have stay another night to get the final test results back but they let us go tonight. Woohoo!!!! we all get to sleep in our own beds tonight!

(The hospital had little baby gowns for Miles to wear)(Unwrapping the gauze for the first time, Miles was not happy but he was a trooper)(Miles thumb post surgery, the swelling was way down so you can only imagine how swollen it was before surgery)(This was taken after we unwrapped the gauze and socked his thumb in warm water and salt)(Miles was very excited when he knew we were going home!!)

Monday, March 1, 2010 - Miles thumb got more worse over night which caused him to sleep very little since he was so uncomfortable so David and I had to take turns sleeping on the couch with Miles. It was probably the worst night he has had yet. We called Miles' pediatrician first thing in the morning to schedule an appoitnment. Dr. Page presribed Miles with two antibotics and told us to come in tomorrow for a follow-up. We left the pedaitricians office and went straight to the pharmicist to pick up his medication and David went back to work and I went over to Grandpa and Grandma Tartakoff's house. I continued to monitor his thumb and it was still getting even worse so I contact Dr. Page and told him we will not be able to make it another 24 hours with his thumb so we headed over to Children's Hospital ER around 3:45pm and by 8:30 Miles was on the operating table :(  I was, of course, upset to find out Miles had to be put under as there are many risks when anyone is put to sleep but especially a little baby as tiny as Miles. Luckly he was out of surgery in less than 30 minutes but we couldn't see him until he woke up which was not until after 10pm. They had to drain his thumb and the ER doctor took a culture from his finger so we could run tests and see what type of infection he had. Since his surgery was late in the evening we were admitted for the night. Our little baby had his little thumb all bandaged up. He was groggy after he woke up but I fed him right away since he had not eaten in almost 8 hours since he had to have an empty stomach for the surgery. After Miles came to, he was his happy self again despite everything he went through.

(Miles thumb, pre surgery. This was taken with my carmera phone, it was so much worse than it looks and very swollen)(Miles is sucking on a pacificer soaked in sugar water which worked wonders to soothe him while they put an IV in his arm)

(This was the sign in Miles' hospital room)

Sunday, February 28, 2010 - Today, started off as a normal day. Miles got a bath in the afternoon and I noticed on his thumb nail that it was a little discolored, which I did not think at the time was too serious. I went over to our neighbor Jessica's house for a jewlery party and came hom in the early evening. I looked at Miles thumb again and it had gotten a little worse, so I continued to monitor through the night. I got a little concerned as the evening went on so I called the triage nurse to see if we needed to bring him into the emergency room. After speaking with the triage nurse she said we could just wait until Monday morning to bring him into his doctor. So that's what we did.

Saturday, February 27, 2010 - Rain, Rain go away! It was pouring raining most the of day so we stayed in and invited out frinds Cynthia and Oin over for some games. We played some cards and had fun with them as we always do!

Friday, February 26, 2010 - Miles and I go back into our routine after I returned from my Vegas trip. He is off his sleeping schedule, he was going to bed between 7 -8 and since I left on Monday he has been going to bed late around 10. Other than that things are back to normal. I hope Miles is happy his Mommy is home :) After Daddy got home we went over to our neighbor Megan and Winston's house for Megans birthday and had fun catching up with them.
