Halloween!

We took Miles took the pumpkin patch in Rancho Bernardo to pick out our first pumpkins has a family. Miles slept the whole time so I am glad we took these pictures so we can show him when he is older :) Our neighbor Charity and Ryan came over with their 5 month old son Tristan on Halloween. Miles wore his little Halloween onsie. Next year we will dress him up in a costume for Halloween.

Week of October 4, 2010 - 1 week old

Sunday, October 4, 2010 - Wow! Our first night with Miles in the hospital. I could barely sleep because I just kept staring at him all night. We probably changed his diaper about 50 times! The nurses at Pomerado Hospital took such good care of us!

Labor Day! October 3, 2009

Saturday, October 3, 2009 - I woke up at 6 a.m. this morning with really bad contractions and they felt stronger than they have ever felt before. I finally got out of bed at 6:45 a.m. to take a nice hot shower hoping the contracting would go away. And for those of you who know me, know I am NOT a morning person so these contractions had be really bad for me to get out of bed at 6:45 a.m.! After the shower the contractions still were not gowing away but I was sure I was not in labor. So David and i decided to go on a walk around 7:30 a.m. hoping that would alleviate the contractions. We walked to a breakfast cafe in Carmel Mountain but I could not sit down and eat because of the contractions, so we went to Starbucks and I got a scone and we walked home. We got back from around 9:30 a.m. and we started timing the contraction; they were about 4 mintues apart. David and I started to pack the hospital bag although I was still in denial that I was in labor! We finally arrived at Pomerado hospital about at about noon and I thought they might send me home but they checked me and I was already 4 centimeters dilated! The nurse said I would have a baby by dinner time. I couldn't believe it! I called my parents and David called his parents. My parents were the first to arrive around 1:30 followed by David's Mom and later David's Dad. My labor progressed and the nurse said I was like "textbook" labor because everything was going so smoothly. I was about 6.5 centtimeters by 3:30 when I got my epidural. The nurse ended up breaking my water while she was checking me which made my labor progress even faster and by 6:45 I was starting to push. Adam and Shilah had just arrived before I started to push. By the time it came down to pushing Miles out I was exhausted because I had been up since 6 a.m. that morning and all I had to eat was a scone at Starbucks. I knew the faster I could push Miles out the sooner I could eat, so that was my motivation! HaHa! After about an hour of pushing Miles was born at 7:59 p.m. on October 3, 2009. Dr. Kohatsu delivered Miles with another nurse and David and my Mom were also in the delivery room. Miles was born at 8 lbs. 3 oz. and 20 inches long. When he came out they put him right on my chest and David cut the cord. I remember thinking how warm Miles was and how beutiful he looked. David and I had about an hour to ourselves with Miles before we let the rest of the family come into the room. David and I were smiling from ear to ear and just so over joyed that our son was finally here!
